Apart from that, my focus will be on the fairs. With the Kraftwerk<\/a> in Mitte, the Greenshowroom<\/a> and the Ethical Fashion Show<\/strong> have been given a new downtown home and are finally moving sustainability from the periphery to the center<\/strong> of the action. Also new is the FASHIONsustain<\/strong> conference, which will hopefully provide exciting insights into the sustainable fashion future<\/strong>. With this question, the Fashion Changers<\/strong> have ushered in the last of the three days of the fair during their talk<\/strong> in the Kraftwerk. Members of the heated discussion round? J\u00f6rg von Kruse<\/strong> (i+m), Nike van Dinther<\/strong> (This is Jane Wayne), Markus Werner<\/strong> (Virtel \/ Vor), Tina M\u00fcller<\/strong> (Consumer Researcher). Esther R\u00fche<\/strong> of Die Konsumentinnen moderated.<\/p>\n Long story short: guys, we have power<\/strong>! Much more power than we think. Even if the word “power” is ugly. But after all, we want to use it for something good<\/strong>. And we can express that power daily through our buying decision. Consume less<\/strong>. Buy consciously. Because if no one buys more fast fashion<\/strong> less will be produced.<\/p>\n Those who are supported by so many institutions (Mercedes-Benz, Fashion Council Germany, VOGUE editor-in-chief Christiane Arp) must have potential<\/strong>. I am a confessed fan<\/strong> of William Fan and his very individual<\/strong>, wonderful collections<\/strong> for several seasons. Actually from the moment he started telling his own story<\/strong> with his collections. This time, the trip went to his parents’ Chinese restaurant<\/strong> in the province.<\/p>\n Of course, only in the figurative sense, because the China restaurant, which William Fan has chosen for his Defil\u00e9e<\/strong>, is right next to the “Rotes Rathaus”<\/strong> in the middle of Berlin<\/strong>. Guests sat at tables, served great Asian delights<\/strong>, and again saw a brilliant Fan collection<\/strong>. My highlight? The fortune cookie bag<\/strong> (picture) that works as a clutch, shoulder or hip bag etc. And I love William Fan too. Because of his incredibly great perfume<\/strong>, which he mixes together from different fragrances and does not want to tell me what those are.<\/p>\n Too bad: <\/strong>On my written demand on the subject of sustainability<\/strong>, I unfortunately only got the answer that there is currently no time capacity for a corresponding answer<\/strong>. Of course, as soon as I hear something new, I will publish it here. I still love the collection. Nobody is perfect after all<\/p>\n And there is another location – the Fashion Council Germany<\/a>, which is cooperating with Mercedes-Benz for the first time, has found a location for its first Fashion HAB<\/strong> in the Halle am Berghain<\/strong>. And brought Damir Doma<\/strong> back home for the kick-off event. Born in Bavaria, he left home in 2006 to show his collections in Paris and Milan, where his studio is now based. Unfortunately, the picture reflects quite a bit of the stunning show. Here it was pretty fast to the point. In addition to a (his quote) sensitively and poetically but also raw, coarse and unfinished collection, which presented the models almost at a run, were in the evening installations by u.a. Benu Berlin<\/a> (winner of the FCG mentoring program for sustainable designers) and Last Heirs.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Looking behind the scenes<\/strong> is one of my main tasks as a journalist. Less investigative but perhaps quite interesting for those interested in making-of-pictures is the backstage look<\/strong> at the Salonshow<\/strong> at Kraftwerk Berlin. Little space, many models, even more hair and make-up professionals … Coming soon<\/p>\n Of course, my biggest focus was on the sustainable exhibition duo<\/strong>. This first took place in the Kraftwerk<\/strong>. And after the very first expenses in the Hotel Adlon<\/strong> at the Brandenburg Gate over long-time erroneous<\/strong> into the very last corners of Berlin finally made the leap into the city<\/strong> again. Quite pure in the middle. To Mitte<\/strong>. You can find my favorite eco-labels here<\/a><\/p>\n With FASHIONsustainBERLIN<\/a>, the Kraftwerk has entered into a creative conference format<\/strong> that offers a great opportunity to learn about sustainability<\/strong>. The motto of the all-day event: Run for Circularity<\/strong>. The speakers: top-class guests such as Javier Goyeneche (Ecoalf), Ellen Karp (Anerca), Peter Bartsch (Lenzing).<\/p>\n I actually heard only the incredibly charismatic Alexandra Cousteau<\/strong>, because the time was too short because of various appointments with designers, labels, shows, conferences. Following in the footsteps of her great-grandfather Jacques, she founded the EarthEco<\/a> Foundation together with her brother Philippe. The goal: to inspire young people to act now for a sustainable future<\/strong>. And what connection has the filmmaker and environmental activist to fashion?<\/p>\n Filmmaker, environmental activist, granddaughter of Jacques: Alexandra Cousteau<\/p><\/div>\n As a “water child” she is connected to the ocean<\/strong> as much as possible. And that’s exactly what has made her into fashion<\/strong>. Because the fingerprint<\/strong> of fashion can be found everywhere in the sea. Plastic. MikroPlastik. Chemicals. As soon as I find a way to offer a stream from the conference, you will find the link here<\/p>\n A few months ago, the Spanish eco-label<\/strong> in Berlin opened its first flagship store<\/strong> outside its home country. Of course I have published a corresponding post<\/a>. With Ecoalf Berlin definitely has a great sustainable hotspot<\/strong>. Because here is not only a collection of recycled materials<\/strong> offered. Here, the entire store concept is based on the same materials.<\/p>\n A visit to the superstylo flagship store is always worth it!<\/p><\/div>\n While the shop uses a lot of recycled walnut<\/strong>, the two basic materials – PET bottles and fishing nets<\/strong> – are not just found in jackets, shoes and backpacks. Contemporary installations also integrate these into the superstylish shop. The capsule collection<\/strong> Ecoalf designed together with the design duo Felder Felder<\/strong> was shown this evening with delicious Spanish snacks. Yes, sustainable fashion can look so cool. But we have to wait until autumn \/ winter 2018\/19<\/strong>. Because that’s how long it will be before the parkas are available. A visit to the Ecoalf Store<\/a> is always worthwhile! Alte Sch\u00f6nhauser Stra\u00dfe 5-5a<\/p>\n Felder Felder – unfortunately we have to wait a bit for this Capsule Collection<\/p><\/div>\n ELLE and Mercedes-Benz<\/strong> have together been presenting young design talents<\/strong> as part of Fashion Week for several seasons, giving international young talent access to an XL audience<\/strong>. In the past, such exciting collections as the 3D and laser-cut looks of the Dutch couture designer Iris von Herpen<\/strong> came to Berlin.<\/p>\n Among the highlights are definitely the Japanese Wataru Tominaga<\/strong>, the Swiss Julia Seemann<\/strong> or the winners of the festival in Hy\u00e8res Satu Maaranen<\/strong>, Berlin-based Annelie Schubert<\/strong> and Steven Tai<\/strong>, who now works in London. With her label Callisti<\/strong>, the Viennese artist Martina Mueller-Callisti came to Berlin with her lovingly detailed collection<\/strong> in delightfully unagitated colors. Besides the indication that Callisti is made in Europe<\/strong>, unfortunately I have found no further information about sustainability.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n For the third time, the so-called PrePeek Event<\/a> will be held as part of the Greenshowroom or the Ethical Fashion Show. This new format was originally initiated by the two supergirls Thekla Wilkening<\/strong> and Pola Fendel<\/strong> from the Hamburg-based Kleiderei.<\/strong> Since the summer edition of the fair, the Fashion Changers<\/strong> Nina<\/a>, Vreni<\/a> and Jana<\/a> have continued the event and have turned the cozy lounge corner into a wonderful slow-fashion hotspot<\/strong> for fair bloggers during the fair’s hustle and bustle.<\/p>\n In addition to great talks and the opportunity to style<\/strong> looks with favorite items<\/strong> from the labels’ fall \/ winter collections 2018\/19 and then to make a photo<\/strong> of them, this time it was all about one thing: the community<\/strong>. A great, but unfortunately not often enough “copied” format, because German design still needs a proper push to be noticed in public. Amongst the talents under the patronage of the fashion boss, among others, count. William Fan<\/strong>, who combined the East Asian and European elements to fantastic high fashion. Another real must-have is the geometric jewelery which Ina Beissner<\/strong> produces from Fairtrade jewelery.<\/p>\n Asian influences with a wink at William Fan<\/p><\/div>\n Particularly exciting is the decision of Antonia Goy<\/strong> and Bj\u00f6rn Kubeja, who designed noteworthy collections in Berlin<\/strong> under the name Antonia Goy for twelve years. Now the creative duo<\/strong> has decided to take other paths. In addition to the design, the focus has recently been on sustainability<\/strong>. The name of the label was renamed without further ado to Working Title<\/strong>, first items were presented to VOGUE editor-in-chief Christiane Arp<\/strong> in Munich and after their enthusiastic confirmation and commitment to show the result in the VOGUE Salon<\/strong>, then developed a collection. Completely without plastics<\/strong>. No polyester, no plastic zips or buttons, instead only natural materials<\/strong> “Made in Europe”, so that the garments at the end of their life cycle<\/strong> can be disposed of largely without residue. A detailed portrait follows.<\/p>\n Working Title uses natural materials instead of plastics in Europe<\/p><\/div>\n The Kronprinzenpalais<\/strong> has definitely become a hotspot<\/strong> during Berlin Fashion Week over the past few seasons. Exciting newcomers<\/strong>, established labels, all from German-speaking<\/strong> countries and all high-end<\/strong>. Most produced in Germany<\/strong> or Europe<\/strong>.
