Every piece of clothing is supposed to be produced perfectly.
The story of Maska
Like the Swedish style, a clear design language is also evident at Maska. Maska, that means “knitted stitch”, with Scandinavian manuscript! No wonder that designer Maria Svensson, from the yarn to the finished piece of clothing, is carried out in a self-governing manner and has strict selection criterias. Materials such as linen, merino wool, cashmere, silk and organic cotton are the basis for cardigans, pants, sweaters or coats. Apart from the season, there are also season-independent basics, hats and scarves.
And where does her competence come from? The love of textiles has a long family tradition: her great-grandmother and grandmother were the owners of a large sewing factory in the famous Swedish textile stronghold Borås. As a child, Maria was already surrounded by buttons, ribbons and fabrics and experimented with her favorite materials. Later, she worked as a textile buyer for large companies, before she eventually launched her own label in 2009. It is important for her in her profession that both the craftsmanship and the sustainability correspond to a high quality.
Sustainability
Only natural fibers are used for Maska collections. These are from Europe and are processed there. Only the cashmere wool is entangled in Nepal. But this is done in a production facility that supports local workers and is awarded by the “Fair Wear Foundation”. The cotton, for example, is obtained exclusively from areas which hardly do not require additional fertilization or artificial irrigation. And even details are reflected in the environmental idea: buttons and labels are made from recycled or natural materials. By the way, since collection SS17 all fabrics from Maska are officially certified : 100% organic cotton and GOTS seal, knitted fabrics and fabrics are subject to the OEKO-TEX ® Standard 100.
I have always believed that something created with great devotion carries something sublime in itself.
But not only the raw materials at Maska are chosen sustainably, the handling of the clothing plays a central role. The customer can carry his purchased favorite pieces for many seasons, because they are on one hand timeless and on the other hand of high quality. Their durability is much higher than in conventional fashion. And even dry cleaning can be dispensed: All Maska products can be washed eco-friendly at home.
