Once discovered, I never lost sight of it. I have been following Sophie Claussen’s upcycling brand Avenir Berlin since it was founded in 2020. I will never forget her performance in the Lobe block (unfortunately I can’t remember exactly which season it was, but it was definitely summer), which showed what a fashion show for fashion with a message can look like.
That wasn’t long ago. And Sophie has made an incredible development with her upcycling brand. This time she hit the nail on the head again. With a change of perspective. Instead of a show behind closed doors, she showed her Spring/Summer 25 collection COMMUTE in front of a shopping center at Potsdamer Platz. She turned the street into a runway and gave all passers-by the opportunity to take part.
Next spring, intricate denim patchwork designs meet tailored denim blazers and a fresh palette of pastel shades like mint, green, yellow, lavender and cream. Power shoulders, oversized blazers, hand-knitted jumpers (made from seven jeans cut into strips), transparent blouses… Wonderful.
