In front of the entrance: the duck in XXL. On the dance floor: a production in collaboration with the Italian artist Cento Canesio. Live, of course. Next step: the Mandarina Duck Gallery Project, which provides an insight into the history of the brand founded in Bologna in 1977 with the innovative and ironic campaigns from the archive as well as the house’s iconic bags.
With Maristella Cervellera (Marketing Director at Mandarina Duck) I was able to embark on a fascinating journey through history and avant-garde designs. I couldn’t have wished for better company. All information and side information first hand. Wonderful.
Back from the past – into the future of MD: the innovative ECO COATED.
Leisure or work bags, suitcases, wallets or leather goods are always everyday objects that MD reinterprets and redesigns thanks to intelligent, original and functional aesthetic solutions. And so it is with the new line. But here MD goes a significant step further:
Here, MD’s typical style and functionality are combined with environmental awareness. The city backpacks, duffel bags and small crossbody bags of the Eco Coated line are made from recycled polyester (obtained from plastic bottles). As always, cleverly thought out and with great attention to detail. The new line is unisex, robust, water-repellent. Available (from FW 2024) in (of course!) “duck” yellow and understated black.
Maristella Cervellera kindly agreed to present the new line (first hand, of course!):
“Sustainability is certainly an essential topic for MD. That is why we presented our Eco-Coated Collection at our Berlin Event. This innovative line is made of recycled polyester from plastic bottles (PET) and combines style, functionality and environmental awareness. The line is another step by Mandarina Duck towards more sustainable and conscious production and proof that fashion and sustainability can go hand in hand. “For sure we will continue our efforts in this area in the next few years, being aware that the road to a truly sustainable business model is a long one and avoiding any form of greenwashing.”
Good to know: The line is part of the ECODUCK TM project, with which Mandarina Duck is committed to more conscious and sustainable production using recycled materials.
Thank you for the inspiring evening and the eye-opening tour through your history and into the future, Maristella!
