Designer: Sandra und Anja Umann
The Story of Umasan
Minimalist, clean, calmly in muted colors, almost deliberately – the vegan Collections of the Berlin-based sister duo Anja and Sandra Umann have all the conditions to be the timeless classics in your wardrobe collection. To correct luxury mistakes with the noble aim and to define collective values again, the two have launched Umasan (Uma – Indian for Mother of Life, San stands for unity and respect). Thanks to fantastic material innovations and sophisticated Asian-inspired cut art, the fashion designer Anja Umann has learned by no less than the grand master of Asian fashion, Yohji Yamamoto, and sister Sandra, who as a photographer has the right attention to detail, the visionary sisters brings doubting traditionalists to silence. Because yes, you can produce high fashion and still produce sustainable and assume social responsibility.
Innovation in each fibre – Pioneering, Far-Sighted, Brave, Natural!
Sustainability at Umasan
Designed in the studio in Berlin. Produced in Germany. In traditional companies, with whom Umasan working closely to ensure the required quality standards. Long distances are as taboo for the two sisters as the use of animal substances. Wool, silk, cashmere, leather & Co. finds at Umasan no response. Ever seems the use of conventional raw materials for the two not exciting enough. Instead, they rely on innovative materials from nature: birch, beech (Micro-Modal), algae (Seacell – cares by the way the skin), bamboo, soy silk (made from soybean proteins and can be used in place of Cashmere) and eucalyptus (Tencel) can be processed at fantastic textile materials. Next to high wearing comfort, they have positive cosmetic properties for the skin, are skin-friendly and allergy-friendly. Clever It could hardly be, right? And, oh yes they also recycle at Umasan.
Umasan is a sensory experience in a harmonious balance with flattering silhouettes and excellent lines.
