The Story of Abury Collection
Actually came Abury-founder Andrea Kolb 2008 to Marrakech to renovate an old house in the medina. The fact to the idea to a whole new company was born, due to the craftsmen with whom they came into contact at the site. She got inspired by their great skills, the beautiful traditional carvings and embroideries. She wanted to preserve the traditional crafts from extinction and guarantee the people a future. Her idea: the centuries-old craft techniques combined with modern design and at the same time create new markets in Europe. The method: a global designer spends three months at a foreign culture with craftsmen such as in Morocco for each collection. During this time, both parties learn from each other, share ideas and create new products from between tradition and style. How well the plan worked, prove Aburys beautiful collections of fair produced Clutches, messenger bags, backpacks and more.

Sustainability:
Social responsibility and fairtrade. Abury wants the local people to share in the success, and retaliates with education. For every product sold the communities of the producer countries gets the in the production invested time back in school hours. In 2013 25,000 hours has been invested in the education of women and children. To ensure that the aid and donations comes to the right place, namely to arrive directly at the people, Abury has even established its own Foundation, whose staff are volunteers. Therefore Abury customers has the assurance that they simultaneously do with the purchase of these beautiful accessories something good.
