Buy in the region in order to avoid long transportation routes. Shopping without packing waste. Honey of happy bees from the region, which is not only healthy, but supports local beekeepers and contributes the conservation of species diversity of nature – sustainable shopping is fun and has only positive effects.

One in ten online orders will be returned. That are incredible 800,000 (!) Packages a day. Trucks drive across the nation. Similarly, the growth of mountains of garbage and the unnecessary consumption of packaging material are a byproduct of modern consumerism. But that should not be, because sustainable shopping can be quite simple. Regional concepts such as the Kiezkaufhaus in Wiesbaden, nominated for GreenTec Awards 2016 make long journeys unnecessary and also support regional retailers from the food and non-food sectors. Here exclusive assortments of various local shops were collected in a shopping bag and comes with eco-operated Cargo bikes up to the front door. That it´s possible without (German: Ohne) Hannah, Chrissi and Carlo prove with the first packaging-free grocery store in Munich since February 2016. In there shop the three pursuit a zero-waste policy. On offer: certified organic products (delivered without packing) that is based as regional as possible. What this looks like in everyday life? Spontaneous purchases are somehow complicated, in fact, the transportation of a kilo of flour can be difficult without packaging. But if you get used to the concept, the fun will be doubled! Pasta, cereals & Co. are much prettier in the brought along screw and ironing glasses. And you will notice: Your are treading the way to the garbage shed much rarer. And: Which single needs a kilo of rice? Here is just bought as much as you need. And that is paid. Great, right? As honey fan I have a beekeeper of my choice (thank you, Robert!) from whom I get the most fantastic honey from the English Garden. And for those who are not lucky enough to have a beekeeper in the circle of friends, there are good news. With the Munich start-up nearBees of Victoria Schmidt you not only find a local beekeeper for favorite honey, your purchase supports hobby beekeepers who contribute with their bee colonies the preservation of endangered bee populations, and a diverse nature. Because only 20 percent of the honey sold in Germany comes from here. Dramatically enough, the bee population decline.
