Stylemagazines and coffeetablebooks with artful covers wait to be discovered by fashion-inspired readers and design fans in the cozy lounge areas of the new Fashion Hotel Berlin. The walls of the lobby adorn ceiling-high fashion illustrations that look as if they had sprung directly from the sketchpad of a gifted fashion design student. Designer sofas and armchairs with heavy velvet covers invite you to linger. The cushions in powerful pinks from pink to orange to turquoise also make the sun shine on gloomy days. Black-and-white cloak covers and graphic prints blend in cheekily.

Mirrors make the view dreamy into the distance. Framed fashionprints adorn the walls of the open bar and the restaurant. Walls designed like oversized set-top boxes are filled with beautiful picture books, multicolored sewing coils, XL glasses with countless buttons. A glorious blend of contemporary fashion boutique, designer atelier and runway show. Here I feel at home from the first moment. Because fashion fans have at the Mercure Berlin Wittenbergplatz an adequate home on time.
Welcome to the Fashion Hotel Berlin
So much I have never written about a lobby. But rarely an entrance area has fascinated me. Again and again I discover lovely details. But the colorful fashion concept does not stop here. Wonderful warm colors (I love the combi of brown and turquoise!) Make the rooms a home away from home, where you feel comfortable from the first second. With XL prints over the bed and the bathroom door as well as eccentric pieces of furniture such as the “lip chair” in loud turquoise, fashion is also celebrated on every square meter. And the wonderful queensize beds are the recreation paradise after a long day in the city. Some rooms are even equipped with extra bed or sofa – ideal for families.

Perfect start: the wonderful breakfast buffet. Great, that I have planned enough time, because from crispy flakes, over fresh raw food to delicious cold cuts and everything the coffee fan yearns for, is the opulent breakfast buffet everything, with which one would start a new day. The choice of fresh juices makes the decision difficult. But vitamins can never be enough.
The pulsating life of the fashion metropolis begins right outside the door
Opened in November 2016 under the motto “Fashion is my Profession“, the Fashion Hotel Berlin aka Mercure Hotel Berlin Wittenbergplatz has turned into a real – and above all affordable – highlight of the hotel scene in Berlin. The combination of location (between Schönefeld and Charlottenburg and in the immediate vicinity of the legendary KaDeWe), the super service of the young team and relaxed, contemporary style concept, the historic house at Wittenbergplatz has become a magnet for people with fashion- and affinity for design hipster and business-people.
Fashion Hotel Berlin: The whole hotel a runway!
Fashion is not just a concept at the Fashion Hotel Berlin. Fashion is lived in the design hotel under the leadership of Holger Berg. And so the “Mercure Spring Fashion Event” at the end of May initiated not only a great program, the long-drawn-out lobby was quickly transformed into a catwalk where the Berlin designer Ewa Herzog could show her spring / summer collection with a lot of lace. The party was celebrated until late into the night. With fancy drinks, delicious cold cuts from the bright red berkel machine at the bar, great guests and great beats.
Sustainability
For Longstay guests with more than two nights, there are environmental maps. If you decide against a room cleaning, you can get drink voucher or LeClub points in AccorHotels loyalty program or plant trees (also with towel card possible). Of course, despite the XL administration expenses, the Mercure Hotel Berlin Wittenbergplatz tries to keep the reception as paperless as possible. All the lights in the hallways (and some of them are there!) are equipped with motion detectors. Energy-saving LEDs are also used. Not to be missed: the XL Planet21 graffiti that decorates the entire wall between UG and EG. There also the energy proof and the Planet21 charter of the house (bronze level) depend.
My conclusion: My enthusiasm for the Mercure hotels was officially at least since my visit to the Viennese Mercure Vienna First. Also in the Fashion Hotel Berlin on the Wittenbergplatz the location could not be better. The concept is through, the interior stylish, the service uncomplicated and super nice. For city dwellers, business people and fashion week visitors the perfect and affordable (from 99 euros) choice.
