Relaxed chic meets a lot of cordiality: Welcome to ibis Berlin Hauptbahnhof

ANZEIGE

Why did I stay at ibis Berlin Hauptbahnhof? There are many reasons for that. Location: 100 percent, because the hotel is – as the name suggests – super-central directly at the main station and is thus connected in all directions fantastic. Plus: The airport bus stops right outside the door. In a city where the airport is not very well connected, it is invaluable. The prices: absolutely fair and for members of the loyalty program Le Club Accorhotels there is again an extra discount. It is quite noticeable, as the hotels of the XL group are in almost all the cities, which lie on my travel routes.

A little taste or snack? The bar is open 24/7

Welcome to ibis Berlin Hauptbahnhof

The ibis Berlin Hauptbahnhof Hotel welcomes guests with a relaxed cool lounge with Eames Rocket Chairs (the lime green model I’ve been trying to take off my brother for years) and creative illustrations at the 24/7 bar. All in all – super comfortable and stylish without appearing on the face. Beautiful is the one. But good the other. And certainly not many know this, because the ibis Berlin Hauptbahnhof has the DGNB certificate for sustainability in gold. As part of the Planet 21 program of AccorHotels you can use towels here several times. This not only saves water, you can plant a tree for it. And there can be no end to it. The water pressure in the showers is regulated so that as little water as possible is wasted …

Sustainable commitment is very important at the ibis Berlin Hauptbahnhof

There are apple tree sponsorships with a Brandenburg fruit farmer, a cooperation with the Arche (children’s board), the employees have planted a herb bed of pallets in the entrance in the absence of a roof terrace. Actually, they would have liked to have a bee colony on the roof, but from consideration of the direct neighborhood to the Amano hotel, this project was unfortunately not implemented.

Beehive, which swarm the hipster cocktails were not wanted.

Instead, sponsorships for raised-bed gardens have been taken in the Herz-Jesu monastery – where the neighborhood can be provided with fresh basil & co. Speaking of herbs: The herbal pots from the breakfast room – if they look a little plucked – are not simply disposed of. They are lovingly replanted in the kitchen (or come back to the monastery) and get a second, third and fourth chance. Yes, love is in the details.

Not everyone has: the employees have planted the herbs

My favorite room: the myRooms

In the ibis Berlin Hauptbahnhof, there are five #myRooms (see Instagram: #myroomstories). The concept I already know from the wonderful Mercure Vienna First and am always happy about this fantastic project. Here, employees can design the rooms, get creative and the guest is always looking forward to his room. In addition to a Berlin room, there is the opportunity to stay in Ireland to test the Life & Balance room (with dumbbells & Co. for the fast fitness unit) or to stay in a library. We have landed in the apple room, just like the GreenTec Awards. Freshly cheerful apple pillows, large wallstickers with branches covered with leaves – wonderful!

Great concept: The #myRooms are designed by the employees

And it goes even better: Family First

Apart from the fact that children up to 12 years stay in their parents’ rooms free of charge, there are family rooms and rooms that can be easily combined.

Good to know

In hotels, employee fluctuation is often relatively high. At the ibis Berlin Hauptbahnhof, the opening team is still complete, with the exception of two employees who have gone abroad. Seems to be fun to work there. And that’s what you can see as a guest at every corner. The smile is genuine, the staff do not make a duty to order (I even get a compliment for my clutch), the atmosphere is wonderfully relaxed.

My highlight at ibis Berlin Hauptbahnhof

I have slept fantastically, enjoyed the location and nice conversations. But one thing I definitely have to emphasize separately: At the breakfast, which contains different muesli (hmm, the Bircher muesli), yoghurts, cold-cuts and cheese varieties, scrambled eggs, bacon and fresh herbs, there was next to delicious coffee and various teas also still freshly pressed apple juice (Yes, there is the apple again!).

No question that I was sure of the envy of my daughters!

Freshly pressed apple juice replaces the everlasting orange juice here

I find it quite sustainable when one considers that oranges are not really native in Germany. Quite apart from the XL bowl mountain, which remains after the daily breakfast passage. Everything fantastic, but it was the wonderful waffles that attracted me magically. The smell that comes to you in the morning … With apple sauce and jam, with colorful sugar ruffles, honey, and everything your heart desires – and my daughters are still envious that they were not there … But we can come back – Berlin is always worth a trip!

Prices: from 99 euros. Bookable here
