That journeys, at least most ftypes of it, leaves an ugly ecological footprint is a great pity. Altough excursions to other countries bring us closer to foreign cultures. In fact, since the birth of my children, I have not traveled far. The fact that I have been touring Europe with my family over the past few years does not only have a sustainable background: as beautiful as Marrakech or the idyll on the Maldives are. I think that little children do not need much more than sun, sand and sea. And we have plenty of that in Europe. The long journeys – the environment will have to forgive me – are still to come. I owe that to my daughters. After all, they also want to discover the world.
my-GREENstyle-Look – On the Road
In recent years we have been on the road all the time and have often visited friends and family somewhere in Germany, Holland, Denmark and Spain. And the summer holiday – the attentive reader will know – spent in an eco resort in Croatia. We will do that again this year. And that’s exactly why this look comes from the stopover in Maribor, where we spent a few wonderful days in the Glamping resort Chateau Ramsak. I love this outfit, because it’s so wonderfully uncomplicated and still great. Now, with the first warm sunbeams announcing the summer, this look is back on course.
Coat ||| Freitag’s truck tarpaulins are design classics that hang in prestigious museums from Zurich to New York. Of course, the smart Freitag brothers are not resting on this success. And that’s why last year they did a lot of research and experimenting with their amazing F-Lab collection. Not from upcycling plastic, but sustainable from bast fibers. In other words: linen, hemp and modal. They are 100 percent biodegradable.
Who accompanies me on the road? My 100% biodegradable linen coat from Freitag
I have had every single part in my hand. I have chosen the Japanese-inspired linen coat that suits everything, is light in weight, elegantly creases and is a true sustainable statement. Plus: Super consistent are the metal buttons. They are screwed and can be removed without residue before composting. F-Lab coat from Freitag about 270 euros. At freitag.ch
Blouse ||| Anyone who knows me knows that I am on stripes. Always. And therefore I could not resist this blouse with the small stand-up collar. It is also made of the F-Lab collection and made of 50 percent linen and 50 percent modal. The name? F-ifty Fifty. Right? F-Lab blouse from Freitag about 120 euros. At freitag.ch
Jeans ||| I am still in love with my jeans from Goodsociety. Full-lenght or rolled-up for the summer, it is always a faithful companion – on the road and at home. In the meantime it got a rival – I got the same model in light stone gray. Good to know: The jeans are made of organic cotton and bleached without chlorine. Buttons and rivets made of 90 percent recycled materials. Slim jeans at 160 euros, at goodsociety.org
Have I ever mentioned how good slow fashion feels?
Sandals ||| What jewels! So clean and so great at the same time! I met Alina Schürfeld when her collections were high and higher. I do not wear heels anymore. So far, I have always been happy only for others who wear her creations. In the meantime, the girl from Hamburg also produces flats and hits my taste. Speaking of black: my model does not exist this season anymore. But model Josie is also a dream in “hazelnut” and “raspberry metallic”. Good to know: Made of vegetable-tanned salmon leather and incredibly comfortable. About 150 euros. At alinaschuerfeld.com
Bag ||| My bags are usually small – except I have laptop & Co. in the luggage. On vacation, I need even less space than usual. Money, lip gloss, telephone. Finished. And that’s why I often go with Toms shoulder bag. Hands free and clear in the interior. It could not be better. Not at all. That’s better. Because with every pocket purchase Toms ensures that a woman in need of a secure birth is possible. One for One. Although I have not found the bag on the website, but the great festival shoe collection. And for every shoe purchase, Toms gives a new pair of shoes to a child in need.
